Written and directed by Marissa Velez, "Birds of Paradise" stars Janeane Garofalo as Carmella Cimmino, a Staten Island woman thirty years into a war with the wild turkeys on her lawn. It is a sharp, funny look at neighborhood politics and local government, and we could not be prouder of where it has gone: the short premiered at the 2026 Brooklyn Film Festival and is the proof of concept for a feature of the same name. Cinematography by Sean Price Williams.
